Storyline: New visa-free agreement with China fuels Albania's tourism boom [Voice_over] Albania is having a tourism moment - and it's not just a summer fling. What used to be a seasonal business is now transforming into a year-round destination. From the Adriatic coast to the rugged highlands, the country is welcoming more visitors than ever - and they're coming from all directions. [Sound_bite] Herida Duro, General Director of Tourism Development, Albanian Ministry of Tourism and Environment: "In the past, we focused on peak periods. But now, we're seeing success year-round - drawing in both new and traditional markets. That's a huge milestone." [Voice_over] One of the biggest new chapters in this story China. A strategic visa-free agreement is now in effect - unlocking a whole new market of eager travelers. Albania hopes to welcome between 300,000 and 400,000 Chinese tourists annually - not just in peak season, but also during quieter months when destinations are calmer, cheaper, and easier to enjoy. [Sound_bite] Herida Duro, General Director of Tourism Development, Albanian Ministry of Tourism and Environment: "We want Chinese tourists to stay longer, especially in the quieter months. The interest is real - and Albania is ready to welcome them with personalized, professional services." [Voice_over] And the country is building fast to meet the demand. From brand-new five-star hotels to upgraded coastal infrastructure, a nationwide construction boom is reshaping Albania's skyline - while trying to keep its charm intact. For Albania, this isn't just about numbers. It's about authenticity. The campaign slogan "Experience Albania" isn't just branding - it's a promise. One built around culture, storytelling, and connection. [Sound_bite] Arben Ipa, President, Association of Tour Operators in Saranda: "Albania stimulates all the senses - from the weather to the joy our people create. That authenticity It's what keeps visitors coming back, wanting to discover our jewels. And it what makes us one the most visited destinations." [Voice_over] And this growth hasn't come at the expense of nature. Albania has made sustainable development a priority, with 22% of its land already designated as protected areas. New investments are being carefully balanced with preservation - to ensure that the country's natural beauty is enhanced, not erased. Back in Saranda, tourism leaders are confident: Albania is no longer just "on the map" - it's helping redraw it. [Sound_bite] Arben Ipa, President, Association of Tour Operators in Saranda: "Tourism is a borderless industry. We don't want to be just the vase for someone else's bouquet - we want to be in the bouquet." [Stand_up] Evangelo Sipsas, Reporter: "With rising global attention, a year-round strategy, and a nationwide construction boom, Albania is no longer a detour on Europe's tourist trail - it's a destination in its own right. And with China now in the mix, this small country is making a big impression on global tourism. " [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
