A towering fire tornado was filmed in Bilecik, with thick smoke spiraling into the sky as firefighters worked to control the blaze using a water hose.

The footage, released on July 21, highlights one of many wildfires that have erupted across Turkey during this summer’s dangerous fire season.

Authorities say hundreds of fires have ignited across the country, prompting tens of thousands of people to evacuate their homes.

Earlier this month, two people lost their lives in fires that swept through the western province of Izmir.

A message shared with the footage stated, “We are up against an enemy that never gets hungry, never tires, never rests. Our heroes’ greatest motivation is their love for the Green Homeland.”

It continued, “With your heartfelt support and the bravery of our heroes, we will defeat this enemy together.”

Scientists have identified Turkey, Greece, and other Mediterranean countries as part of a “wildfire hotspot,” where intense summer fires are increasingly common due to hot and dry conditions.
