Lockers have been installed in public areas across super-efficient Japan, allowing people to safely store their umbrellas.

Footage captured by Wen Baratheon shows her friend demonstrating how the safety lock feature works in Okinawa, Japan.

The woman can be seen placing the umbrella handle inside the locker and sliding a small rod to secure the lock on July 20.

She then sets a three-digit code before walking away.

This initiative helps prevent theft or accidental swapping of umbrellas in crowded places.

In Japan, it is common for umbrellas left outside stores or in public areas to be mistakenly taken by others, making the lockers a practical solution.
