An idyllic flower garden cafe is set to be demolished for a new road leading to the parliament house in Bangkok.

The Papin-garden and Jungfood Cafe will soon be torn down as part of the local government's urban development plan in the area.

The cosy eatery, nestled in the city's Bang Phlat district, was previously an abandoned durian orchard spanning seven acres of land.

Now in its third year of operation, the floral haven now houses a garden of more than 30 colourful flower varieties, which are both decorative and used as ingredients for the cafe's menu.

The owner, Pinyapat Predaboon, said: 'Our cafe concept is to resemble a friendly living room to provide a sense of homeliness. The style may resemble homes in different provinces, and those seeking tranquillity and birdsong can come and enjoy nature at Charan Sanitwong Soi 91, intersection 4.

'I opened the cafe because I used to only sell my products online. I wanted an opportunity to welcome them and to interact with them in person.

'Many tourists are amazed that such a garden can exist in an urban setting.'

Pinyapat said that because of the demolition plans, she was considering moving the business elsewhere.
