This is the heartwarming moment a fireman gently handfed water to a thirsty stray cat.

Tholib Mahameru, one of the rescuers from the collapsed school, gave the visibly weak feline a drink in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, on October 1.

Footage shows Tholib, wearing a helmet and face mask, crouching beside the exhausted cat.

The animal can be seen licking water from the mouth of a bottle as Tholib carefully pours it onto the ground.

Tholib said: 'The cat previously lived in the Islamic boarding school and was one of the survivors of the collapse. We handed it over to nearby residents to ensure it would be properly cared for.'

The Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School collapsed on Monday, 29 September, claiming the lives of 49 people.

Local media reported that hundreds of boys were trapped beneath metal bars and concrete slabs during the tragedy. Fourteen remain missing, while 104 survivors, including six in intensive care, were rescued.
