Beijing, China - July 27, 2025 Continuous heavy rainfall from Saturday night to Sunday has led to significant disruptions in Miyun District, in the far northeastern suburbs of Beijing. In Bulaotun Town, a section of road collapsed due to the severe downpour on Saturday night. Local authorities have deployed excavators to clear the site, and other competent departments are coordinating efforts to repair the damaged road. Residents of Bulaotun Village have been evacuated since Saturday night, with all villagers relocated to safe areas. Due to the heavy rainfall, the inflow to the Miyun Reservoir, the capital city's major reserve of drinking water, has significantly increased, reaching a maximum inflow of 6,550 cubic meters per second. The region is currently in the main flood season. To manage the inflow, the Miyun Reservoir has begun discharging excess water at 15:00 Sunday, gradually lowering its water level to below the flood limit. During this discharge, the water levels on downstream rivers, including the Chaohe River, Baihe River, and Chaobai River, are expected to rise noticeably. The continuous heavy rainfall has also caused damage to power transmission facilities in Miyun, prompting the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company to initiate a Level I flood emergency response. The company has deployed 325 repair teams, totaling 2,597 personnel, across the city. Additionally, 864 main distribution network repair staff members have been dispatched to provide cross-regional support to Miyun and neighboring Huairou District. Currently, 43 power generating trucks and 74 power generators are in operation, with an additional 13 power generating trucks and 30 20-kilowatt generators sent for support from across the city. As of 10:00 Sunday, power has been restored to a total of 1,487 households in Yanluo Village and Huangtukan Village in Miyun District, along with two telecommunication base stations and one high-voltage user.
