A climate activist stormed the pitch during a football match in Poland, halting play in a dramatic protest against the country's transport policy.

The incident occurred on July 26 during a match between Lechia Gdansk and Lech Poznan.

Stanislaw Kur, 23, a member of the environmental group Ostatnie Pokolenie (The Last Generation), interrupted the game in a bid to draw attention to a proposed law aimed at restoring Poland's public transport system.

Reports said the group specifically targeted the game because President-Elect Karol Nawrocki, known to be a fan of Lechia Gdansk, was expected to be in attendance.

The demonstrators are calling on Nawrocki to launch a legislative initiative and sign a bill that would support the rebuilding of Poland's railway and public transport.

Footage from the scene shows Kur standing near the goalpost as stadium staff rush towards him to escort him off the field.

Stanislaw said: 'The result of the match is clear: climate versus humanity. We are losing species after species, forest after forest, life after life. Lex Ostatnie Pokolenie is a step toward avoiding catastrophe. This is a game for everything.'

Protesters warned that climate breakdown, manifesting through floods, heatwaves, and crop failure, is already impacting Poland due to continued reliance on fossil fuels.

Ostatnie Pokolenie says its proposed law would curb rising emissions from car transport, currently the fastest-growing source of carbon dioxide in both Poland and Europe.

The bill also aims to reverse decades of damage to public transport following economic reforms after 1989 and reduce the country's dependence on foreign automotive firms and oil-exporting regimes.

Followers of the climate agenda have resorted to increasingly aggressive public attacks in recent years - often using violence and intimidation to cause chaos on roads, at events and in art galleries.

The Oxford Languages dictionary defines a terrorist as 'a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims'.
