On August 5, near the Tieshan Service Area in Beihai, Guangxi, severe convective weather struck with torrential rain and roaring thunder.

Dashcam footage shows an SUV slowly driving along the road when it was suddenly struck three times in a row by lightning. Blinding sparks erupted from the vehicle’s roof, accompanied by deafening bangs.

The highway traffic police authority in charge of the area reported receiving no incidents of vehicle or personal injury related to the lightning. Local emergency and meteorological departments also confirmed no reports of this lightning strike.

The SUV owner later responded on social media, confirming both he and the vehicle were unharmed. He added that he hardly felt anything at the time and jokingly said, “Good thing I wasn’t swearing!”
