It does not bring safety, it's all dangerous. People are getting killed because of it. This is injustice, this is religiously forbidden. This is deceitful food. I feel sorry for you, my uncle; this is the aid of humiliation."GAZA, PALESTINE - AUG. 07, 2025: Palestinians rushed to collect humanitarian aid parachuted into northern Gaza on Thursday, Aug. 7, as Israel’s ongoing siege and blockade continue to limit access to essential supplies. The aid, dropped by military cargo aircraft, landed in the northwestern part of Gaza City, where a large group of Palestinians had gathered in anticipation. Many waited for hours under the scorching sun, hoping to secure some of the limited aid. Some were able to reach the parachuted packages while others could not. Palestinian Abu Muhammed Muharib, who received only a small portion of the aid, criticized the deliveries as both inadequate and hazardous, claiming they had led to civilian deaths. “This aid is not helpful,” Muharib said. “It humiliates the Palestinian people. It doesn’t bring safety — it’s dangerous. People are being killed because of it." The air drops are part of ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to civilians in the besieged enclave, where food, medicine, and water remain in critically short supply due to Israel’s blockade and months of bombardment. Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza for 18 years and, since this March, has shut down all crossings, blocking the entry of humanitarian aid and worsening conditions for the territory’s population of 2.4 million. According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, since July 27, Israel has allowed in just 843 aid trucks – far short of the 6,000 required to meet the daily needs of residents for just 10 days. The blockade has pushed the enclave into famine. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 193 people, including 96 children, have died of starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 60,800 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
