VARIOUS OF DAMAGED TENT GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 7, 2025: Humanitarian airdrops continued over the Gaza Strip on Thursday, August 7, as famine conditions worsen across the besieged enclave under Israel’s months-long blockade and genocide. In the northwest outskirts of Gaza City, crowds of Palestinians gathered in the sweltering heat to retrieve airdropped aid packages. Many waited for hours under the scorching sun in hopes of securing basic necessities. While some managed to collect supplies, at least one aid package fell on tents sheltering displaced families. Local residents voiced growing frustration and concern over the chaotic nature of the air drops, calling them unsafe and ineffective. Many urged that aid be delivered through established humanitarian agencies such as UNRWA to ensure safe and orderly distribution. Gaza is currently enduring one of the most severe humanitarian crises in its history, with famine compounding the impact of the ongoing genocidal war perpetrated by Israel since October 7, 2023. Israel has kept all crossings into Gaza sealed since March 2, 2025, blocking the entry of food and medical supplies. The total closure has significantly worsened famine conditions throughout the territory. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 197 Palestinians—including 96 children—have died as a result of Israeli-induced starvation and malnutrition since the genocide began. The ministry also reported that 51 Palestinians were killed and 230 injured in the past 24 hours while attempting to access humanitarian aid, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 1,706, with over 12,030 others wounded since May 27, when the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began operations. Gazan authorities accuse the Israeli army of "engineering chaos and starvation" in the enclave by deliberately refraining from securing aid trucks and forcing Palestinians to seek previously bombed and non-restored roads "packed with starving civilians." The Israeli-crafted aid scheme has been widely criticized as being a “death trap” for starving civilians. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued genocide in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing over 61,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
