Marmot tries desperately to grab snack hanging from motorcycle
This is the amusing moment a marmot was seen desperately trying to grab a snack hanging from a motorcycle.
A motorist had parked his vehicle on the roadside when the hungry yellow-bellied marmot approached after spotting a piece of bread inside a plastic bag in Sichuan, China.
Footage shows the rodent standing on its hind legs as it attempts to snatch the snack dangling from the bike's side mirror in Mosca Village on July 27.
The mammal even stretched its neck to bite the flatbread and batted at the food with its paws.
However, it was unable to reach the snack.
The filmer said: 'I didn't dare touch it, but I eventually gave the bread away.'
Yellow-bellied marmots, while generally not aggressive, are wild animals and can carry diseases like plague or tularemia, which is why wildlife experts advise against direct contact, especially in regions where such risks exist.
