At first, it was just curiosity—I bought a snake at the market. I started with one, but I really enjoyed keeping snakes, so the hobby grew. I took care of that snake as it got bigger, then I kept buying more. Now I have 10. I think it’s relatively easy, so I don’t face many difficulties. For example, the smaller snakes eat every two weeks, while the larger ones are fed once a month. Their care doesn’t require daily attention, so it’s pretty manageable. Some grow quite long—up to 6 meters.”KEBUMEN, INDONESIA - JULY 17, 2025: Munding Aji, a 30-year-old snake enthusiast in Kebumen, Central Java, Indonesia, has been living with pythons for 15 years. What began as curiosity when he bought his first snake at a local market has grown into a passion. Aji cares for 10 pythons in his garden, each named individually. The snakes range from 6 to 10 meters long and freely roam both the garden and inside his home. He says caring for the snakes is relatively easy, feeding smaller snakes every two weeks and larger ones once a month. “Their care doesn’t have to be every day, so it’s pretty easy,” Aji said.
