This is the dramatic moment water bursts from a manhole cover during flooding in Mexico City.

Footage captured by Carlos Coronas shows rainwater gushing forcefully out of a drain lid on Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza on August 10.

The intense rainfall caused severe flooding on major roads throughout Mexico City, with water levels reaching up to 50 centimetres (19 inches) in some areas, further complicating travel and transportation across the capital.

The freak weather also inundated Benito Juarez International Airport, leading to significant flight delays and operational disruptions.

Airport officials issued a statement around 9 pm local time, announcing that due to the afternoon's heavy rainfall and poor visibility reports, landing and takeoff operations were suspended for three hours.
