VARIOUS OF DIPLOMATS, CIVIL SERVANTS, AND CITIZENS OUTSIDE FOREIGN MINISTRY HOLDING BANNERS AGAINST FAMINE IN GAZA, PHOTOGRAPHS OF KILLED PALESTINIAN JOURNALISTS, GIVING SPEECHESTHE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS - AUGUST 14: On Thursday, August 14, diplomats, civil servants, and citizens gathered outside the Foreign Ministry in The Hague to protest Israel’s ongoing genocide and the famine imposed on Gaza. The weekly solidarity vigil featured participants holding banners denouncing the killings, famine, and the Dutch government’s stance. Attendees read aloud the names of 243 journalists killed in Gaza, including Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif. Protesters called for the Netherlands to adopt a tougher stance against Israel, urging economic, military, and political sanctions. The demonstration included current and former diplomats, as well as former ministers, and concluded with a two-minute moment of silence for the victims in Gaza. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal war in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, killing more than 61,700 Palestinians. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
