A shocking video shows a huge flood tearing through a remote mountain village in Pakistan - leaving homes submerged by water.

The clip, shot from a hillside opposite Talidas village in Ghizer, northern Pakistan, captures walls of muddy water smashing through fields and roads on Friday morning (Aug 22).

A house on higher ground is seen collapsing as the torrent hits.

The disaster began in the early hours when shepherds heard rumbling in the mountains around 2.30 a.m. and ran back to warn villagers.

The midnight alert gave families precious time to move to higher ground before the water surged into Talidas just after 6.30 a.m.

The eyewitness – a 38-year-old man who filmed the scenes – said floodwater filled the village within minutes.

By mid-morning, people were stranded on rooftops and high ground. Volunteers carried out the first rescues, before an army helicopter lifted others to safety.

Authorities say at least 50 people were evacuated, with disaster teams later reporting around 200 moved to safe areas.

The flood cut the only main road through the valley, isolating nearby communities, and left dozens of homes ruined. A regional minister said up to 70 houses were destroyed.

Officials said no deaths had been reported as of Friday, but warned the temporary lake and unstable slopes could trigger more flooding downstream.
