Powerful Dust Storm Strikes Burning Man, Damaging Campgrounds And Art Installations
A video shared by X user @meltonjohnart car shows the destruction left behind by a strong dust storm that hit Burning Man 2025 on Saturday night.
The storm brought winds of up to 52 mph, toppling a piano, bending metal tubes, and scattering debris across the event grounds. Burning Man 2025 runs from August 24 to September 1, 2025, and this sudden storm caused widespread disruption.
Despite the damage, the festival community is determined to recover quickly. Organizers and participants plan to continue the event, even with fewer tents and shade structures.
@meltonjohnart car commented, “Who’s afraid of a little dust and 50% less shade structures when we rebuild? We had this carnage removed and had a great live music piano party two hours after this video.”
