Amazon delivery driver critically injured after being run over by his own van in Birmingham
This was the scene after an Amazon delivery driver was critically injured after his own runaway van crushed him against a wall in Birmingham.
Collision Investigation Officers examined the Amazon delivery van on Thursday, 28 Aug afternoon.
The delivery driver was run over after it is believed the diesel van rolled on top of him, pinning him against a wall and critically injuring him in the Castle Bromwich area of Birmingham.
After 999 calls came just before 3.40pm, West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the WMAS critical care car attended the scene.
A spokeswoman for the service said: ‘We were called at 3.38pm on Thursday to a road traffic collision involving a van and a pedestrian on Chester Road, Castle Bromwich.
‘Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the WMAS critical care car attended the scene.
‘Upon arrival we found a man who was the pedestrian in a critical condition.
‘Ambulance staff administered advanced life support and advanced trauma care to him at the scene.
‘He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with medics travelling on board for continued treatment en route.’
West Midlands Police officers cordoned off the scene as investigations into the tragic incident took place.
A spokesman for the force said: ‘We were called to Chester Road in Castle Bromwich around 3.40pm yesterday (28 August) to reports a man had been injured by his own vehicle.
'The man was taken to hospital where he remains with potentially life-threatening injuries and his family are being supported by specialist officers.
'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances around what happened.’
