Los Angeles, United States - August 29, 2025 08/28/2025 10:57 pm GMT-0700 WESTCHESTER, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle crashed near Manchester Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard late Thursday, possibly while responding to a pursuit connected to a crash and a reckless driver. The crash occurred around 10:57 p.m. near Los Angeles International Airport. Two people were seen removing suitcases and belongings from the LAPD vehicle after the wreck. No injuries were reported. The incident possibly stemmed from a pursuit that began when Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a gray Hyundai Genesis with paper plates near Vermont Avenue and the 105 Freeway. The driver fled at high speed before colliding with a white Nissan SUV at Figueroa Street and 83rd Street, sending the Genesis into a nearby apartment complex fence. The occupants abandoned the Genesis and entered a white Mercedes sedan, which then fled. Los Angeles police officers pursued the Mercedes into West Los Angeles, where the LAPD unit later crashed. The Mercedes was discovered abandoned a short time later near Sepulveda Boulevard and Rose Street. Three men approached officers at the location, claiming ownership of the vehicle and stating it had been stolen days earlier, though no theft report had been filed. The suspects from the initial pursuit remain at large.
