10. TURKISH AIRLINES' HEAD OF SALES DEPARTMENT MAHMUT YAYLA SPEAKING (In Turkish) MISRATA, LIBYA - SEPTEMBER 02: Turkish Airlines (THY) has resumed scheduled flights to Misrata on Tuesday (September 02), Libya, after a 10-year hiatus.

Flights, which were suspended in 2015 due to internal unrest in the country, resumed with flight number TK 1145 departing from Istanbul Airport.

The ceremony held for the THY aircraft landing at Misrata International Airport was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Tripoli Guven Begec, Libyan Minister of Transport Muhammad al-Shuhubi, THY Sales President Mahmut Yayla, and several officials.

In his speech, Ambassador Begec said that the start of flights to Misrata was the result of a historic brotherhood between the two countries.

Expressing that the two countries are friends and brothers, Begeç said, "Our friendship is in different nature. Concrete results of special relations are expected. It is important that THY has resumed flights to Misrata. The flights will naturally contribute to commercial, economic, and humanitarian relations. THY flights also carry a political message: The Republic of Turkey will continue to contribute to Libya's stability, security, and prosperity. It will continue to play a leading role in the international community in this regard."

Minister Al-Shuhubi mentioned that THY's resumption of flights to Misrata is a sign of Turkey's support for their country.

Flights on Boeing 737-78D aircraft will operate three days a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
