Storyline: Infrastructure integration fuels autonomous driving in China [Voice_over] This is Beijing's High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone. Spanning 600 square kilometers and equipped with advanced intelligent infrastructure, it has developed advanced autonomous driving services after five years of operation. [Stand_up] Yu Li, Reporter: "This Robobus can detect surrounding objects and people and display them on the screen in real time." [Voice_over] The ride is spacious and comfortable, but most importantly, it feels secure. A screen above shows real-time footage from the front-facing camera on the left, while the right side displays a simulated diagram of obstacles and road conditions around the vehicle. According to the operator of the demonstration zone, the integration of five key elements - vehicle, road, cloud, network, and mapping - provides comprehensive data to ensure the autonomous vehicles are operating safely. [Sound_bite] Wang Yan, Senior Map Application Engineer, Beijing Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Technology Co: "Intersections pose challenges for autonomous vehicles due to blind spots that are undetectable by onboard sensors. We've installed smart sensor poles that detect road conditions from an elevated position and relay it to vehicles, ensuring safer navigation." [Voice_over] China has implemented policies to support and regulate autonomous vehicles, covering testing, licensing, and safety. Trials are now expanding across 20 cities including Beijing, Wuhan, and Shanghai. Through nationwide "vehicle-road-cloud" infrastructure integration, China is enabling large-scale autonomous driving applications. According to IHS Markit, this is expected to help China's robotaxi sector reach 1.3 trillion yuan, or 180.8 billion dollars by 2030, capturing 60 percent of the ride-hailing market.
