The traditional festival, observed on the 15th night of the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar, is dedicated to honoring ancestors and appeasing wandering spirits. Participants were offered food, incense, and paper banknotes during the ceremony, which is widely observed by Chinese communities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
