This is the heartwarming moment a kind driver helped a pensioner cross a busy road in Thailand.

Thanapol Suebsuk was waiting at a red traffic light when he spotted the old lady sitting on the side of the highway in Chiang Mai province.

Footage shows the Good Samaritan walking over to assist the stranded grandmother on September 13.

He held the elderly woman's arm as he guided her across traffic. The pensioner, bent almost double, was seen hobbling toward her destination, with Thanapol trailing behind her to make sure she arrived safely.

She then pressed her hands together as she thanked the selfless driver for his help.

Thanapol's boyfriend said: 'There were so many cars passing by. I knew Thanapol is always sensitive about things like this because he misses his mother.

'Sure enough, he rushed over to help. He took the grandmother's hand and walked her all the way across to keep her safe. He also gave her a little cash to keep. It isn't the first time he's done this.'
