Residents were baffled when they noticed seven sheep perched on a home's roof.

Footage shows the herd standing 30 ft (9m) above the ground, bleating under the sun in Hebei, China.

The flock can be seen gathered together, bawling as if asking for help on September 7.

Meanwhile, the locals could not help but laugh in the background.

Three of the hoofed creatures reportedly fell after being startled, with one of them dying and two injured.

The remaining four stayed on the roof until the men rescued them.

Farmer Mr Liu said: 'Nine sheep had escaped from the yard where they were being kept, and seven of them climbed onto the roof by stepping on the corner of the eaves, without using a ladder.

'They had been left in the yard without anyone to take care of them and were living like wild animals.'
