Israeli 'trading scammers' arrested in Philippine red light district Angeles City
Two Israeli trading scammers targeting wealthy residents in the West were arrested in a red-light district in the Philippines.
Beniashvili Tzahy, 30 and Liel Arzi, 25, were detained in an office in Angeles City in Pampanga province, where they were found with numerous computers linked to several trading applications.
Police raided the commercial building on September 5 following reports about the duo being involved in call centre scam operations.
They said Beniashvili had a valid work visa but was sponsored by a different company while Liel held only a tourist visa.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said in a statement: 'The suspected trading scam allegedly deceives individuals by offering fake investment mentorship programs and trading opportunities, ultimately gaining unauthorized access to victims' bank accounts.'
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the Philippine National Police had previously stormed a similar scam hub before but the suspects shifted to more discrete venues like residential units to avoid detection.
The fraud network allegedly posed as an account management office to lure victims from the UK, Australia, Canada, and other countries.
The Israeli nationals will remain in BI custody pending deportation.
Officials said more raids will be carried out against scam hubs operated by foreigners in the Philippines.
