France: Israel almost completely isolated with more countries recognizing Palestinian statehood: French expert
Storyline: Recognizing the Palestinian statehood by several Western countries signifies a fundamental change in the international community's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, leaving Israel completely isolated, said a French expert in an exclusive interview with the China Central Television on Monday. Renaud Girard, a French geopolitician, said that the war launched by Israel has had the opposite of its intended effect. "Israel is now almost completely isolated and is only supported by the United States. We can say that the war waged by Israel after it was attacked has been strategically counterproductive, as it created tens of thousands of orphans who will dream of nothing but revenge in ten years. It has destroyed the entire living environment of the two million people in Gaza, arousing international condemnation. We don't really see what Israel has gained. Rather, we see what it has lost," said Girard. Girard said France has always advocated the "two-state solution," and the recognition of the Palestinian statehood by several Western countries has political and legal significance, reflecting growing international dissatisfaction with Israel and a reflection on historical issues. However, the timing and impact of this recognition by Western countries still need further observation. "Did France's diplomatic gesture bring the solution to peace one inch closer? I don't find it obvious. It may even have been counterproductive. I hope it wasn't. I hope it didn't incite the Israeli government, which is the most right-wing in history, to conquer more Palestinian land in the West Bank," said Girard. French President Emmanuel Macron formally announced on Monday at a UN meeting his country's recognition of the State of Palestine, joining most of other UN member states that have already done so. With France's recognition, over 150 countries have announced their recognition of the Palestinian statehood. Shotlist: FILE: Paris, France - Date Unknown: 1. French national flag 2.
