This is the hilarious moment a youngster stood inside a bucket of water as a rat rampaged through a bathroom.

Nanda Pamungkas was asked by his brother to catch the rodent that had entered their lavatory in Banten, Indonesia, on August 1.

Terrified, Nanda cautiously stepped into the room to capture the pest, but as soon as he spotted it, he immediately leapt into a red pail to avoid the rat crawling onto him.

Footage shows the rodent scurrying across the floor and jumping onto the corners in an attempt to escape.

Meanwhile, Nanda can be seen frozen in fear, clutching a pole.

Moments later, the rat unexpectedly leapt into the same bucket, sending Nanda scrambling out while screaming in shock.

The animal was then left trapped inside, unable to climb out.

Nanda said: ‘I took cover in the bucket while trying to catch the mouse, but I was so shocked when it suddenly jumped in with me. Thankfully, I wasn't hurt from the encounter.'

A rat bite can lead to rat-bite fever (RBF), a bacterial infection caused by Streptobacillus moniliformis or Spirillum minus, bacteria commonly found in a rodent's mouth, nose, and throat.
