SANAA, YEMEN (SEPTEMBER 24, 2025) (USERS MUST CREDIT “HOUTHI PRESS OFFICE” HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO - EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Yemen's Houthi group claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the southern Israeli city of Eilat on Wednesday, which Israeli officials said left at least 19 people injured.
In an official statement, the military spokesman for the Houthi forces, Yahya Sare'e, said the group had "successfully" carried out a military operation using two drones that targeted "two objectives belonging to the Israeli enemy in the Umm Al-Rashrash area," the historical name for Eilat.
Sare'e asserted that "the operation successfully achieved its objectives" and that the enemy's interceptor systems failed to counter them.
The claim of responsibility comes as Israeli medics confirmed the attack. The national ambulance service, MDA, reported that among the 19 injured, two people sustained serious wounds.
The strike was reported to have occurred near the Mall Hayam shopping center, a busy tourism hub.
The Israeli military confirmed that the drone had been launched from Yemen.
In his statement, the Houthi spokesman framed the attack as a response to Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip and aggression against Yemen. He also noted that this was the second such operation within 24 hours.
