A power outage at Grand Central Terminal in New York left commuters stranded.

Footage shows the station plunged into darkness, with some passengers using their mobile phones as torches on Thursday night, September 25.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) said the terminal experienced a voltage drop in its feeder network shortly before 8:30 pm, which caused lights to go out in parts of the facility.

Authorities confirmed that power was restored to the terminal's upper level by 8:53 pm and to the lower level at approximately 9:17 pm.

Officials stated that the outage did not affect subway services, the Metro-North Railroad, or the Long Island Rail Road. Operations at Grand Central Madison also remained unaffected.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the power outage remains under investigation.
