[Voiceover] In eastern China's Yiwu City, demand is heating up for 2026 FIFA World Cup merchandise, even though the tournament is still nine months out. Known as the world's largest small commodities hub, Yiwu is ground zero for World Cup related merchandise. Shoppers like Hossam from Jordan, which will be playing in the tournament in the first time in 40 years, said he's looking for general items, and of course, a soccer ball. [Soundbite] Hossam, Jordanian shopper: "We're buying mixed goods, some daily use things. Actually, we just bought one of these." [Voiceover] Merchants from Yiwu's international trade market say they have been working on FIFA related accessories since this past May. [Soundbite] Zhou Yanjuan, shopkeeper, Yiwu International Trade City: "Like these scarves are accessories for 2026 FIFA World Cup. And these caps and glasses sell well. Many buyers are from the United States, Mexico and Canada." [Voiceover] Yiwu Customs data shows that the city exported 952 million U.S. dollars-worth of sports goods in the first seven months the year, a nearly 17 percent increase from last year. The data also shows that about 264 million dollars-worth of those goods were sent to the tournament's three host countries, Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. The tournament will be held in June of next year with 48 teams qualifying. [Restrictions: No access Chinese mainland]
