Storyline: NEVs charging ahead in China's car rental market [Voice_over] Hybrid and electric vehicles are making a buzz in China's car rental market as eco-friendly and cost-efficient alternatives. The employee of one car rental company in east China's Xuzhou City said they've seen a significant increase in orders for NEVs or new energy vehicles. [Sound_bite] Meng Zirong, employee, car rental company: "Right now, about seven or eight out of every ten orders are for new energy vehicles. In fact, to meet demand, all of the 120 new vehicles we've added this year are NEVs." [Voice_over] The trend is similar at another rental service provider in Beijing, which plans to expand their fleet of NEVs to cater to rising customer interest. [Sound_bite] Mr Liu, Beijing consumer: "I chose this hybrid for its fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness. When I go out with friends, I also prefer to rent a car. It costs around 40 U.S. dollars per day, including insurance." [Voice_over] According to Trip.com Group's car rental platform, NEVs now make up around 30 percent of the domestic rental market. Since the beginning of 2025, bookings for NEVs have risen by over 30 percent year on year, the group reports. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
