This is the shocking moment a cyclist was knocked over by a taxi passenger opening a door.

Jayson Batula was riding along the designated bike lane on a highway in Manila, the Philippines, when a white taxi suddenly stopped in a no loading and unloading zone to drop off the commuter.

Helmet-mounted camera footage shows Jayson shouting in shock as he loses balance before toppling onto the roadside on September 18.

The rider, visibly in pain, can be seen massaging his left ring finger, which was sprained in the impact.

The female passenger then stepped out of the vehicle to check if he was all right.

Jayson said: 'I was okay and did not suffer any serious injuries from what happened. I just had some scratches on my legs and a sprained finger. My bike had a few scratches too.

'The driver tried to compensate me, but I refused to take the money since it was his first trip and the passenger also had nothing to give. He seemed sincere and kept apologising, so I just let it go.'
