Palestine supporter claim genocide at rally in Canada
Pro-Palestinian supporters claimed genocide was being carried out in Gaza during a rally held in Canada.
Hundreds of demonstrators marched through the streets of Niagara Falls, Ontario, on September 28 to protest the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Members of the Jewish community criticised the protest, saying parts of it crossed into provocative and hostile territory, citing chants that they claimed called for the elimination of the Israeli state.
The rally was organised by several groups, including the Niagara Palestine Coalition, Liberate 48, and Windsor for Palestine.
Niagara Palestine Coalition spokesman Gabriel Gebril said: 'You protest so that you're listened to, and when you're not listened to, you protest louder.
'The message is we're not going to get tired and we have the people behind us. We're going to keep coming out and we're going to keep on this case until something really changes.'
David Adames, Chief Executive Officer of Niagara Parks, confirmed that the rally remained peaceful.
The event came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly, warning that there was no end in sight to the nearly two-year-old war in Gaza, despite mounting international pressure.
Netanyahu outlined a broad military strategy, stating that Israel had neutralised threats across the Middle East, including in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.
International concern has continued to grow over the deepening humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, where a UN panel recently declared a famine.
Researchers claim that more than 20 per cent of households are facing extreme food shortages, 30 per cent of children under five are suffering from acute malnutrition, and mortality rates have surpassed emergency thresholds.
