A rescue boat capsized while evacuating residents from floods caused by Typhoon Bualoi in Thailand.

The vessel had just collected a stranded family when the currents slammed it against an electric post in Uttaradit province.

Footage shows how the boat listed from the impact and began taking on water on October 1.

Several officers fell overboard and were swept away by the deluge while the villagers clung onto the overturned vessel.

Bin Banluerit, who led the rescue operation, said: 'The current was manageable when we first arrived, but the water level rose rapidly, making the current much swifter and stronger.

'The boat operator has almost 20 years of experience but even he had trouble navigating the currents, which overturned the boat.'

No one was reported injured as all onboard were wearing life vests. Other rescue crews later arrived to save them.

Bualoi struck Vietnam early Monday morning, with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 19 people dead and 88 others injured.

Authorities confirmed that Bualoi triggered at least eight tornadoes across several provinces in Vietnam, including Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh, and Hanoi.

In Ninh Binh, the extreme weather left nine people dead and 18 injured. Eleven single-storey houses collapsed, 126 homes were damaged, and 53 utility poles were brought down.

Bualoi had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.

The Thai Meteorological Department said Bualoi has been downgraded to an active low-pressure system over Laos. It was expected to cause heavy rainfall and flooding in northern regions while moving along the monsoon trough across the region.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said at least seven were killed in floods in Thailand.
