China: First air cargo route from Hainan to Africa takes flight

Storyline: The first Africa-bound cargo route from the Hainan Free Trade Port in south China's Hainan Province was officially launched on Thursday as a B767-300 freighter carrying 48 tons of goods took off from Haikou City. The plane departed from the Haikou Meilan International Airport, made a stop in Nairobi, Kenya, and arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Haikou-Nairobi-Johannesburg route is operated by a Kenya's Astral Aviation, with one flight scheduled per week. After the opening of the route, it is expected to help cross-border e-commerce enterprises and foreign trade enterprises in Hainan to integrate into the freight network in Africa and even globally more conveniently.
