FRENCH-PALESTINIAN LAWYER SALAH HAMMOURI DELIVERING SPEECH DURING PROTEST PARIS, FRANCE - OCT. 4, 2025: Demonstrators in France held a protest on Saturday, Oct. 4, in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists detained by Israel. The protesters marched from Place de la Republique, demanding an end to Israel’s attacks in Gaza and called for the release of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists held illegally by the Israeli government. The protest condemned Israel’s attack on the flotilla, with demonstrators urging French authorities to take action to allow the French nationals on board to return home. Protesters carried signs reading “General Strike for Palestine” and “Break the Blockade,” and chanted slogans such as “There is only one solution: stop the occupation” and “We are all the children of Gaza. We are all the journalists of Gaza.” Speaking during the protest, French-Palestinian lawyer Salah Hammouri highlighted Colombia’s decision to expel Israeli diplomats as an example for France to follow. He also stressed that the priority should be ending the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and he stated that the Israelis’ ultimate plan is the “Greater Israel” plan. Israeli naval forces attacked and seized vessels of the Global Sumud Flotilla on Thursday and detained more than 470 activists from over 50 countries. The flotilla had been attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge Israel’s blockade of the enclave. Israel has maintained the blockade on Gaza, home to nearly 2.4 million people, for almost 18 years. Since October 2023, Israeli genocide has killed more than 66,000 Palestinians in the besieged enclave, most of them women and children, and rendered it all but uninhabitable.
