BYD Sees UK EV Sales Soar By 880%, Becoming Largest Market Outside China. The company sold 11,271 cars last month, with the plug-in hybrid Seal U SUV making up the majority of those sales. The surge comes amid a record high in UK EV sales, with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reporting a sharp increase in both battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. BYD’s market share in the UK jumped to 3.6%, with the company planning to launch more hybrid and electric models soon. UK manager Bono Ge said the future is “hugely exciting” for the brand, which recently opened its 100th retail outlet. The UK remains an attractive market for companies like BYD, as it has not imposed tariffs on Chinese EVs, unlike the EU and US.
