Four Dead After Six-Storey Building Collapses in Madrid. A six-storey building partially collapsed in Madrid, leaving four people dead and several others injured. The collapse occurred while the building, a former office block, was being refurbished into a hotel. The victims included a 30-year-old Spanish woman managing the project and three male workers from Mali, Guinea, and Ecuador, aged between 30 and 50. Authorities confirmed the recovery of the last two bodies 15 hours after the collapse, while three others were injured. Emergency services, including drones and sniffer dogs, were deployed in a search and rescue operation after the collapse on Hileras Street. Two bodies were recovered on Tuesday night, with the building's façade remaining intact despite the internal destruction. Madrid’s mayor, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, expressed his condolences, offering support to the families and colleagues of the victims. The building was undergoing extensive renovations to operate as a four-star hotel, according to the developer Rehbilita. A construction worker reported fleeing the scene after seeing a large cloud of dust as the building collapsed. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, with ongoing efforts to understand the full extent of the incident.
