Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Beijing on Saturday night for the upcoming Global Leaders' Meeting on Women scheduled to take place in the Chinese capital from Oct. 13 to 14. The summit will mark the 30th anniversary of the 1995 World Conference on Women, which also took place in Beijing. Ghana is among the first sub-Saharan countries to establish diplomatic relations with China and remains an important strategic partner of China in Africa. Both countries share a commitment to narrowing the gender gap, promoting equality, and advancing the all-round development of women. On Africa's Women’s Day this year, Ghana held a high-level national launch of the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, marking a new chapter in the country’s commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusive governance, and social transformation.
