ZAPORIZHIA, UKRAINE - OCT. 10: At least one child killed, five people injured in a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia city of Ukraine on early Friday (Oct. 10), said state emergency service of the country.

The attack hit a residential area in the city, destroying a house and causing a fire, according to the state emergency service statement.

The statement noted that a seven-year-old child rescued from the rubble by search and rescue teams however died in the hospital.

The search and rescue teams worked at the area to extinguish a fire attack caused in the building.

A total of 20 people were injured due to overnight Russian airstrikes which also caused damage to local infrastructure in its capital Kyiv, said Ukrainian authorities.

“As of now, more than 20 people across the country have been reported injured – all are receiving the necessary assistance. Sadly, a child was killed in Zaporizhzhia as a result of the attack,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said through the US social media company X regarding the attack.
