An anti-immigration protest erupted in Japan ahead of President Donald Trump's visit to the country.

Footage shows a crowd of demonstrators gathered in Kawaguchi City, near Warabi, on October 26.

Dozens of activists walked through a covered walkway - believed to be part of a train station area - beneath bright fluorescent lights.

Many wore white protective suits, masks, and hats, and carried banners bearing messages opposing immigration, including 'No More Immigrants'.

Protesters said they opposed what they viewed as lenient immigration policies.

Japan's foreign population has grown steadily since the country reopened after the pandemic, reaching about 3 per cent in 2024 as authorities eased visa rules to address labour shortages amid an ageing population and declining birth rate.

They also voiced opposition to US foreign policy in the Middle East and raised concerns about Trump's political influence ahead of his visit.
