This is the hilarious moment a student amused his classmates with his DIY ostrich costume for a Halloween party.

Jay Lasaca improvised his outfit using a black rubbish bag and a pair of googly eyes to resemble the flightless bird after running out of time to prepare in Leyte, the Philippines.

Footage shows the resourceful youngster hunched over with one arm raised to mimic the ostrich's neck and head on October 25.

His body was wrapped in the plastic bag, leaving his legs and arm exposed, while an eye donned on his folded hand completed the illusion.

Jay even dropped a black balloon on the floor to resemble an ostrich egg before breaking character and laughing along with his classmates.

He said: 'I didn't have enough time to prepare a costume since I was busy studying for a regional accounting exam the day before the party, so I had to make do with what I could find in our dormitory.

'Luckily, we had an extra trash bag. Everyone had amazing costumes that night, but I still won the Funniest Costume Award.'
