KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - OCTOBER 31: Widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure during intense Israeli military attacks on the city of Khan Younis has precipitated a severe drinking water crisis, leaving Palestinians with scarce options for survival.

According to on-the-ground accounts, the targeting of wells, reservoirs, and underground pipelines has depleted nearly all local sources of potable water.

Residents are now forced to walk for kilometers and wait in long lines to secure water from the few tanker trucks that manage to reach the area.

The situation has exacerbated the already dire humanitarian conditions in the besieged enclave. Displaced families are facing immense hardships, with many having lost their homes and access to basic necessities.

One displaced resident from the Abasan al-Kabira region in southern Gaza, Itaf Qudeih, stated that they have been unable to return to their home since being displaced during the holy month of Ramadan, and do not even know its current condition.

Qudeih emphasized that their home had been completely demolished, leaving them without water or food and in a state of total deprivation.

She further stressed that no basic humanitarian conditions remain in Gaza, adding that access to healthcare services and medicine is unavailable.

Israel has killed more than 68,000 people in Gaza in more than two years of attacks that started on Oct. 7, 2023.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was reached earlier this month, based on a 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

Israel, however, has violated the truce multiple times, the latest this week.
