German retiree clashes with petrol station staff for 'refusing to fully up truck's tank'
A German retiree clashed with petrol station staff when they allegedly refused to fully fill his truck's tank.
The foreigner and his wife stopped to refuel their Mercedes-Benz Unimog, but workers asked him for a vehicle QR code, a regulation required for purchasing fuel in Indonesia.
The pensioner reportedly did not have one, so as a compromise, employees agreed to sell him 400,000 IDR (18.24 GBP) worth of fuel.
However, the German allegedly misunderstood the rule and became furious on November 1.
Footage shows him shouting at the locals.
He said: ‘I stay here. No, no, please. Make it full.' He then slammed his truck door as more workers tried to talk to him.
'It's not okay. I have money. No problem.'
Police Chief Kahu Iptu Andi Muhammad Amir said: ‘The foreigner wanted his vehicle filled with a full tank, but the station officers refused since he did not have a barcode. He shouted in English, saying he had money to pay.'
Residents eventually helped calm him down before he left the station.
Indonesia's government introduced the fuel QR code policy to regulate the distribution of subsidised fuel and prevent misuse. Motorists must register their vehicles and show a QR code when purchasing certain types of fuel, such as Pertalite or Solar.
