This is the shocking moment a rider leapt off an electric motorcycle just as it burst into flames.

The motorist took his e-bike out for a quick spin after charging it in his garden when it suddenly exploded in Phitsanulok, Thailand.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the two-wheeler emitting thick smoke as the shirtless man heads out of the compound on July 27.

Upon seeing the fumes billowing into the air, his relatives standing in a nearby shed alerted him to the danger.

Moments later, just as he switched off the vehicle and stepped back to safety, it blew up and caught fire.

He then doused the blaze with a garden hose, successfully extinguishing the flames.

He did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

The motorist suspected that the explosion was caused by a combination of his DIY modifications and overcharging the battery for too long.
