Historic Torre Dei Conti Partially Collapses In Central Rome
On November 3, 2025, a 27-second video filmed by X user Linda Whittaker from Colorado, USA, captured the partial collapse of the 13th-century Torre dei Conti from a street-level perspective.
The footage shows a crowd of onlookers — tourists, journalists, and locals in casual attire — standing behind bushes and safety barriers, many raising phones to record the event under a clear blue sky.
The tower’s upper section crumbles, sending a cloud of orange-brown dust into the air. Yellow construction netting and barriers surround the base, while a yellow excavator arm or crane emerges from the rubble.
Nearby, modern buildings are visible, including a beige apartment block and a red “Ristorante Cinese” sign along Via Cavour. A vintage street lamp and parked cars are seen in the foreground.
Through the hazy dust, the Colosseum is faintly visible in the distance, emphasizing the historic heart of Rome amid the dramatic scene.
