Dozens of schoolchildren were injured when a roof collapsed during a powerful storm in Indonesia.

Five classrooms were affected when the roof caved in at Gunung Putri 1 Vocational High School in Bogor Regency on Monday, November 3.

Authorities said the rooms were originally used for grades 10 and 11, who were on holiday at the time. However, they were being used by another class when the incident occurred.

At least 30 students were injured around 2:30 pm local time.

Footage shows heavy rain lashing the school area, while another clip captures emergency responders attending to the wounded students.

The Head of the West Java Education Office, Purwanto, said: 'At the time of the incident, it was raining heavily. We are currently checking which class was studying in the room.

'The first aid was carried out by a team of doctors who happened to be in the area.'

Officials said the classroom building was constructed in 2003 and renovated in 2015 by the government.
