China: Smart products shine at 8th CIIE
Storyline: Smart products shine at 8th CIIE [Stand_up] Wang Tianyu, Reporter: "China’s market is driving global innovation, with high consumer demand pushing companies to develop smarter and more advanced products. Here at the CIIE, this trend is clearly on display." [Voice_over] Singaporean company OSIM is known for its high-quality health and wellness products, especially its massage chairs. Now, it has applied massage technology to ergonomic chairs. This innovation is a response to the shifting preferences of Chinese consumers. [Sound_bite] Deserine Lim, General Manager, East China Region, OSIM China: "They are no longer looking for single function products. They are looking for more comprehensive health management systems or solutions into their personal lifestyle. And that's why instead of being technology driven, it has changed to being user centric driven based on their specific scenario needs." [Voice_over] This shift in consumer preferences is also evident in the auto sector. Japanese automaker Nissan has announced the establishment of a new export company in China, aimed at meeting the growing global demand for smart cars developed by its local teams in the country. [Sound_bite] Stephen Ma, Nissan China Chairperson: "Intelligent is two sides, so one is the intelligent driving ADAS and the other side is the life on board, which means the experience inside the car, the connectivity, the navigation, the entertainment, the comfort, so it has both. The Chinese customer preferences and demands in this area now is the highest in the world. So if we can make the right cars for the Chinese customer here in China, this will actually help us enhance our vehicle and portfolio for global." [Voice_over] And in the fashion world, UNIQLO is also evolving to meet consumer needs in China. Its innovative Pufftech technology uses air-filled fibers to mimic the warmth of down. [Sound_bite] Liu Yimin, PR Manager, Uniqlo China: "The diameter of this fiber is only one-fifth of a single hair, which allows it to be filled with a lot of air. More air means better warming. That's why our Pufftech technology jackets provide down-like warmth." [Voice_over] From health tech to smart cars and fashion, China’s evolving consumer demands are driving advancements that are likely to influence markets worldwide.
