The eastern segment of China Mobile's 2Africa submarine cable was officially activated on Friday in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, with an aim to power digital transformation across the African continent. Senior government officials, diplomats, industry executives, and innovators attended the inauguration ceremony, which marked a significant milestone in China-Africa cooperation on digital and smart technologies. At 45,000 km long, 2Africa was born from the close collaboration of international partners from China, South Africa, Egypt, Saudi Aribia, and France, and will be one of the world's longest submarine cable to connect Europe, Asia, and Africa.
