Recently, on the streets of Wuzhen, Tongxiang City in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, a robot traffic police officer named Tongtong made its official debut, drawing widespread attention and becoming a unique sight in the city’s traffic management system.

Standing 1.8 metres tall, with a top speed of 6 km/h and a battery life exceeding 7 hours, Tongtong is equipped with two laser radars, five 360-degree rotating cameras, and digital signal processing technology.

In real-world use, Tongtong has already played a key role. During the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, it assisted human officers in maintaining order and improving traffic control efficiency. In daily operations, especially during rush hours when traffic volume is high, Tongtong helps direct and manage vehicle flow alongside traffic police.

A single intersection that once required three or four officers can now be effectively managed by just one officer working with Tongtong. Capable of working 24 hours a day without interruption, Tongtong’s precise movements and quick responses have significantly improved local traffic management.
