Storyline: As the 15th National Games is full swing across three Chinese co-host regions, Macao is seizing the occasion to hold various sports and cultural activities, in an effort to engage more people in sports. Co-hosted by Guangdong Province on the mainland, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, the 15th National Games opened with a grand ceremony on Nov 9. It is the first time in the history of the National Games that it is co-hosted by multiple regions. In the early hours of each morning, Macao's Mount Fortress Municipal Park -- one of the city's most popular fitness venues -- buzzes with local residents engaging in morning exercise and workouts. Among them, a morning exercise friendship association, founded by Leong Sun Iok, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR, stands as one of the most active and representative sports groups. "We are very delighted that this year's National Games are jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. We extend our warm welcome to visitors from all over the world, including our compatriots from the mainland, to Macao, to watch the Games. Macao is not only a 'City of Sports' but also a 'City of Gastronomy'. We hope visitors will take this opportunity to explore Macao's culture and savor its cuisine," said Leong. Among Macao's roughly 12,000 registered associations, nearly 2,000 are related to sports, covering 45 disciplines including handball, billiards, boxing, cycling and bodybuilding. To welcome the 15th National Games, the Macao SAR Government has since early this year supported various sports associations through its Sports Development Fund to organize diverse activities, fostering a strong atmosphere of "National Games for All." During the Games, the city's signature event Macao Grand Prix, which has a decades-long history, will also be held from November 13 to 16. "In this year of National Games, we hope to take this opportunity of this event to organize more public sports activities.
